Welcome to Ultrafysio Advanced Workshop with certified instructor Karel Veldkamp.

At this Ultrafysio workshop you will learn how to prepare body and brain for an ultimate sports performance or expedition experience by using 3 main training modalities:

(1) Body Oxygen Level / CO2 tolerance and Intermittent Hypoxic Training

(2) Controlled accelerated acclimatization to altitude, cold and heat

(3) Hormetic stress and sensitization of our hormonal/biochemical reward system

New training methods make it possible in a short time to acclimatize to high altitude, extreme cold and heat by using the hidden power of both oxygen and hormones to gain access to the body’s innate survival potential: to optimize your immune system, to regulate (raise) your energy (strength and endurance) level and to improve the dynamics of blood circulation and thermofitness.

We will dive deep into advanced breathing techniques to develop ultimate breathing quality and sensorimotor control. We will repeat Oxygen Advantage’s exercises on ‘simulation altitude training’ and the WHM retention technique (WHM Fundamentals), and we will try to prepare ourselves for a tropical, arctic and/or altitude sports performance or expedition with advanced practice training.

We are going to practice some important exercises, and we wil dive deeper into the fysiology of altitude-, cold- and heat adaptation.

Try not to eat 1-2 hours before start course. To get the maximum benefit from the activities it is better to start on an empty stomach.


PROGRAM:

10.30 The power of oxygen: Theory and practice altitudetraining (Kilimanjaro experience) and activation and sensitizing of the hormonal/biochemical system. How to achieve and maintain a sufficient level of CO2 in your body, to secure your energy level, strength and ‘state of mind’ over time (during performance).

11.30 Intermittent hypoxia: Repetition OA and WHM breathing exercises (including ‘power breathing’).

13.00 Immersion into evolutionary medicin with respect to altitude, cold and heat. For example: how to prepare and adapt to high temperature with high humidity - like coping with the rainforest. What went ‘wrong’ on the expedition with Bruce Means in the ‘The Last Tepui’.

13.30 Lunch

14.00 How to combine oxygen advantage and adaptation exercises when preparing for a multi day/week sports event or expedition. Practicing altitude simulation exercise, cold bath, sauna with Rhonda Patrick’s latest conclusions from science (foundmyfitness.com).

15.30 Evaluation; Q&A

PREPARATION: You may have attended an Oxygen Advantage, Wim Hof Fundamentals and/or Breathology course. Or you just may wish to improve your sports performance with the latest scientific insights. It is recommended with some experience from cold shower/ice bath and/or sauna. Then you will know already how the body reacts to conscious breathing and temperature shifts, which will help you to understand how you can gain better controll over physical exhaustion and health hazards over time.
